Re: Does Duolingo care about completing a course?

All that would still go over my head even if I stood on a chair. Duolingo builds on that competitive nature between humans to such an extent that actual learning is only a by product. Every day that goes past I lose a little more faith in the time I spend using the system. I can feel the time coming...

I've stayed away from joining public groups as the cache balloons out very quickly, even with two or three chats. So be sure to clean it regularly.

Yes I noticed that early on. Regular cleaning is needed on both my machines and is a good tip to pass on.

Congratulations. Don't beat yourself up if life gets in the way. You now have the learning bug and would soon be back. One a side note...... Has anyone used the Telegram app for contacting other users or friends abroad. There are various channels. Some are for news like the New York Times. Others are for tourism like Visit Ukraine. There are also channels for language learning. I have just seen two short story books for learning French (...

Re: Does Duolingo care about completing a course?

I have reached the same conclusion. Duolingo is just a money making exercise. Yes they shout about how many users they have. They boast about the number one language learning app. But at the same time they carve off little slices of useful information for the learner. They don't update courses in th...

Please stay. Take your time to settle in. If you only find the answer to one question about your language learning it must be worth it. One link to a new teacher, website or access to answers about Duolingo could change your mind. You don't need to read every comment or access the site every hour bu...

I do not receive the same amount for lessons that I did a year ago. Once it seemed easy to get to 100 points. Now it can be 10 lessons. All those large numbers that other users have posted will not be achieved now. I wonder what the thinking was behind that decision ? Let's change the points system ...

I have also seen that happen. I suffer with Mom/mum, Color/colour etc . When you add in another language it gets a little harder. Top it off with slight dyslexia and it's enough to turn you mad. Some nights I dream of that green chicken being chased by an hungry fox.

Nothing to do with learning. Nothing to do with updating the lessons. Forget forums and learner interaction....

In Ukrainian я лікар would be " I am a doctor " . Not all languages can be translated word for word. When you have got your head around that it becomes easier. It makes you realise that your own language has a lot of words that it doesn't need.

Enjoy !

Always useful to know local idioms. They might not make you seem like a native but could stop you from feeling like a fool.
