Re: And then Duolingo decides to...

Hours later, the same situation prevails. I have noticed, however, that the problem has to do with the leagues block, because both the individual course scores and the statistics entry do show the updated scores. --- This is the "before" course score: dl-course-score1.png And the following...

And then Duolingo decides to...

… ignore everything I'm doing.

I did a heart practice, a lighting round, a regular lesson, a learn the characters lesson… and my score hasn't changed at all.

Re: Is this person a fake/Bot or a gambler?

Just a few observations, based on my own experience. The teaching method of dl is based on two things: presenting pairs of sentences, and repetition. When I used to work via the web browser, I had blocked most of the distracting elements of the page, which included the leagues block. Regarding repet...

No está de más que las compartas, independientemente de si en este momento hay gente estudiando japonés desde español. Yo estoy haciendo el curso de inglés → japonés, pero no tanto para aprenderlo, sino simplemente para asimilar otras formas de expresar una idea.

Re: Last summer, we were in Madrid for three weeks. (en → es)

An excellent explanation, thank you so much! I was misguided by the information about the duration of the stay - that was why I thought about imperfecto. Seeing the stay in Madrid now as concluded time frames makes the usage of preterite clear. You're more than welcome! Yes, it gets complicated whe...

Re: "a" before subject + piace / piacciono

I wonder if I understand the following rule well: In some sentences, and as I see it they are all with piace / piacciono, I see a word (preposition???) "a" before the subject when the subject is expressed with a noun (typically a name). Like in "A Mario piace la natura.". Is it ...

Re: Use of の between the "sport" and the "player"

I'd say that they are equivalent:

tennis player: テニス選手 = テニス選手
soccer player: サッカー選手 = サッカー選手

Maybe a bit like in Spanish: jugador de futbol vs. futbolista.

Re: Are Aliens real?

Humans are such a menace to other life forms, that this Universe, the ultimate prison, had to be created to put them in. One just feels sorry for the other creatures that have to share this planet with us.

Doesn't the Universe seem like such a waste of resources? Vastness beyond imagination.

@gmads I don't really know how it would be different from other sites and forums that are in operation.
