Re: Officially(ish) B2 en Français

Did you just use to Duolingo to achieve that or did you utilize other sources as well. No, I didn't achieve this with Duolingo. I had quite extensive French language instruction in school in Canada, and was probably more fluent than this when I was 11/12 years old. But it's been over 13 years since...

Larger default font size?

I've been thinking it myself but tolerating it, but others have raised this too (https://duolingo.hobune.stream/comment/56102150?comment_id=56107546). Just wondering if a slight increase to the default font size is possible? I know you're working on making the forum look more 'familiar' - I note tha...

Officially(ish) B2 en Français

So I've been thinking about joining my local Alliance Française for a while. Last night I was looking at some of the courses they offer which included some conversation practice. Reading, writing, listening are all things I can practice online easily but finding opportunities to speak is the biggest...

Re: A succinct description of CEFR levels

I have done a few online assessments and I keep getting A2. However when I open my mouth to speak, I'm an F. You're right about the best assessments being the ones where you take a test in person. Explaining that one is Level 1 or 2, or Beginner or Intermediate has so much of a grey area. When I ju...

Re: Could you add a TEST subforum?

Does it need a whole subforum? Or could it be a dedicated thread in the troubleshooting section? "Test your posts here" sort of thing? Like the old ghostwheel thread?

But also, reminder that "Preview" and "edit" buttons exist here and are very useful!

Re: Flags

I seem to need more practice in order to learn a language than most people, so my levels on Duolingo are misleading. And I doubt I'm the only one who's at level 25 but only about half way through their language tree.... That's the advantage of using [self-assessed] CEFR levels instead of the XP-bas...

The Greek flag :gr: does not seem to work either.

If I may I ask, what is the difference between N vs. ( N ) vs. L1?

I've started a thread here about CEFR levels: viewtopic.php?p=512#p512

I haven't mentioned N for "Native" though.

Re: Need help archiving!

I think a lot of forums need a lot of help. You're off to a great start! Next step is to start copying these posts over. You can use F12 in your browser to access the HTML code for any website, including the duolingo posts. Then there's an HTML to BBCode converter you can use to change that into BBC...

Re: [ARCHIVE] All About Articles: Les or Des, Partitive Articles

I posted a question in a lesson asking why "he often helps others" is translated to "il aide souvent les autres" (instead of " des autres"), and then I found this page -- but I don't see a definitive answer here. I wonder if there is a definitive answer in this case, o...

A succinct description of CEFR levels

A few people have chosen to use their signature to display the languages they speak or they are learning. Some people may be using the CEFR indicators (A2, B1, etc) next to these flags. While these are (usually) only self-assessments, (people may have gone through the effort/expense of accreditation...

What are your Language Learning Goals for 2022?

There were several threads like this on the Duolingo forum, but since they'll be gone soon, I figured it would be worth while starting a fresh thread in this fresh, new forum!
