Re: What don't you like about the Duome forum?

I think that is a technical issue with the kind of forum structure we are using phbb boards. Okay this is starting to make sense. Are we referring to the fact that Duolingo had parent/child comments whereby if a person posted something as a parent comment, and there were child comments in reply the...

Re: What don't you like about the Duome forum?

I think the only problem is the inability to delete somethings you don't like No one should be interrupting your enjoyment of the forum. There is a line between things we don't like, and things that are violating the guidelines. If you notice something actually is in violation, report it, and the m...

Re: Duome Telegram Channel

A few hours at least, I believe. EDIT: I had noticed the problem personally when I first tried to log in for the day at about 7:45am Pacific Time on March 10th. I would periodically check approximately 15 minutes or so, and could get back into the system trying again at about 10:30am Pacific Time. M...

Re: What is the most romantic word in English?

There are many terms of endearment here, but are they really romantic ? ... e.g. , candlelight, rapture, chivalry, ambrosia -- are more likely, IMHO, to conjure romantic thoughts. That's exactly how I approached this topic when I saw the title. It's up there with questions like: "What are the ...

When I wrote educational role I was not saying that you have to be language teachers but that you should have a more active role regarding user behavior. But in the end you volunteer and do the best you can. I understand. My answer was based on this: You, members of the Team, must also have an educ...

Re: What foreign names sound strange in your native or target language?

So interesting, that I just had to look it up: According to the Ukrainian etymology of the word, the word for orange is derived from the fact it was imported from [China] and were originally called "Chinese apples". This is an orange, we're talking about. Hence why the sound of the word ha...

What a fun topic! :D There are a few words in Ukrainian that tripped me up when learning. One them is апельсина which means orange. But if you say it, phonetically, it sounds like "apple-senna" and I think "apple seed". So I have to wrap my brain around the fact that when I say t...

Re: What don't you like about the Duome forum?

You, members of the Team, must also have an educational role. You're supposed to be the elite of the group. If that was a requirement upon becoming a mod, I wouldn't have joined. It's quite simple with any forum and mods, moderating is a task that volunteers offer to do because they have the time a...

Let's just say when much activity is always normal on one's topics and replies but then suddenly one day--it's not, then you know something is wrong.

Shōgun (2024)

Is anyone watching the new mini-series Shōgun on FX? I am so excited to see this remade! Regarding signatures, a careful review should be made, some do not comply. If any user notices something that is violating the terms or if they think it might be questionable, they should be reporting. The team of volunteer mods don't have the ability to scan for signatures. If you see something in...
