Re: Ona piję wodę V.S. Ona pije wodę

I can understand that it sounds unnatural to pronounce the accented "ę" on the end of the word, but how would you say in speech "I am drinking water" in a single short sentence with no other context? Would you pronounce the accent at the end of the word "piję"? Or woul...

Re: Something happened on Duolingo...

Perhaps you've achieved a big streak recently? Duolingo gives you 3 days of free Duolingo Plus when you get 50, 100, 150 (and so on) days in a row. I didn't, I only got a 74 day streak It might be irregular sometimes. I was given 3 days of free Duolingo Plus when I got 25 days in a row, however I d...

Re: What's the difference between your L1 and your TL

Things in Polish that differ in English: no articles case system every word has a gender (m/f/n) there are letters that sound the same but are written different, for example: u = ó ż = rz you don't always have to include subject (the verb has already been conjugated) you don't start with a capital l...

Re: your languages

Polish - mother tongue. English - first foreign language that I've learnt - in Poland it's an obligatory subject at school. Spanish - second foreign language that I've learnt, continuing on Duolingo - I took it as a second obligatory language (I'm very grateful that my school offered it because now ...

Re: [ARCHIVE] Quiz: Which English do you speak?

Guesses for dialect: Singaporean 2. English (England) Welsh (UK) Guesses for native language: Russian 2. Polish Spanish I've never been to Singapore and haven't spoken with a single Singaporean person so I don't know where it came from... The second guess is correct. My first language is Polish. I a...

I'm an example of a silent reader. I don't comment or create a new post too often, unless I've got a question, however, I try to read everything that interests me.

In Polish it's kot and it says miau.
In Italian it's il gatto and I don't know how it sounds like.

Fue vs Era - talking about origin

When talking about somebody's origin (for example "she was from Spain") do you say "ella era de España" or "ella fue de España"?

Re: What are your Language Learning Goals for 2022?

I'm planning to make progress in Spanish (I hope I'll have turned my Spanish tree golden by the end of 2022) since that is my main target on Duolingo. I'm still going to work on Dutch. I started learning it a month ago and I find it really interesting so far. And also, I'll try to learn some Italian...
