Re: The best movie quotes of all time (translation game)

@Explorer "it keeps getting funnier" = "it gets more and more funnier" ? Does "id magis et magis ridiculior fit." work? Res ridiculior fit would be enough to express that something is getting funnier. If you want to use the adverb for emphasis, (to translate funnier an...

Re: my first portugues crossword

Was it your intention to use... The pretérito imperfeito de subjuntivo (fosse) and the futuro de subjuntivo (for) ? I thought you wanted to make a crossword for beginners, but those verbs are pretty advanced and difficult :D Otherwise, the most logical answer would be: 1 across: was = era 1 down: is...

Number 4 is probably the most difficult one if you have never been to Lisbon before. But the truth is that it's only difficult because it's too obvious. What is one characteristic of the streetcars? How do they move through the streets? Hint: the word is in the singular. https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Yes, I try to read all replies if the topic is in one of the languages I know. Unfortunately, I can't read Chinese or Arabic, so I have no idea what people talk about there.

Some people have been predicting Duo's bankruptcy for a long time, but the reality is that the Duolingo's stock on the Nasdaq reached an all time high last month. Actually, selling shares is a fairly common practice among executives of big companies. Recently Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, sold millions of...

Re: Are Aliens real?

I've always wondered how intelligent lifeforms from other worlds might communicate. They could emit sounds we couldn't hear, or they could lack vocal cords altogether. Perhaps they communicate visually, employing a bioluminescent code akin to species found in the abyssal depths of the oceans. And wo...

Do you agree with that? Do you really think Portuguese sounds like a Slavic language? I'm surprised because it's not the first time I've heard that comparison. I don't know, maybe it's because I have a trained ear, but to me, they sound very, very different. Perhaps the nasal sounds might remind a b...

I think choosing the appropriate part of the forum for a new topic Can be difficult

Is it because there are too many forums? because of the general organization? because the titles are not clear enough? or is it for some other reason? We appreciate your feedback!
