Re: Welsh tree versions

Now, on duolingodata, I see two versions.

https://duolingodata.com/dat/cyfen73.html (73 units, or 112 skills)

https://duolingodata.com/dat/cyfen70.html (70 units, or 107 skills)

This is surprising.

Counting the total number of lexemes is hard. In the incubator, they are often stored as "forms of ..." For example: "forms of beber: bebo, bebes, bebe, beben, bebemos" Does this count as 5 or 1? In my table, it counts as only one. Let's call in this case "beber" the ge...

Re: Number of skills versus the number of units

What is the division into "likely to receive updates" and "likely to be frozen" based on? Was it some anouncement from Duolingo? Gossips from ex-contributors... Duolingo made some comments on Reddit, but it was far from a real announcement Chinese update: https://www.reddit.com/...

Re: Japanese tree versions

I just realized Duolingo changed the way it counts the units once again. Now, for Japanese (website version), it shows Section 1: 8 units Section 2: 20 units Section 3: 40 units Section 4: 27 units Section 5: Personalized Practice Keep your Japanese strong with challenges designed just for you So th...

Re: Japanese tree versions

The data comes from duome.eu or duolingodata.com or sometimes other pages, so it is not totally certain. The Japanese course I have on my profile is https://duolingodata.com/dat/jafen121.html, which is not yet CEFR alligned. going by the old incubator settings, one skill has 1 to 10 lessons (but usu...

I saw in a Hungarian language book, they had one example, where "melyik ..." in singular changed to "milyen ..." in plural, but it was a bit strange to me too.

Re: The Duolingo Welsh course is being "mothballed"

This post was about Welsh, but actually, it is not just Welsh. The majority of Duolingo's courses are mothballed. I mean, Spanish /French/ German will be still developed, this is about the not-so-popular languages. A contractor/contributor of a course was working on two things mainly: Developing a n...

If they really want to push Course A, they have to do a lot of work before then and change the stories, matchmaking and other stuff.

Aren't the stories the same in Course A and B?

Re: Alignment old tree - new path

Yes, there are differences. Section 1 unit 6 (and Section 2 unit 11) is only one skill, so this pushed my earlier unit numbering a bit.

Re: Alignment old tree - new path

Duolingo rearranged the units a bit. Now, Section 1 has 8 units: 1 Letters 1 = learn the alphabet (unit 1) 2 Letters 2 = lesson (unit 1) 3 Letters 3 = learn the alphabet (unit 2) 4 Common Phrases = greet people (unit 2) 5 Basics = describe people (unit 3) 6 There is/To Have = form basic sentences (u...

Re: Course Problems

Your Course A is the new course (79 units), it is CEFR alligned until some point. Course B is the old course (43 units) I do not count the "daily refresh", that's how I got 79 and 43 :) Being in a classroom pushes people to the old, stable version. But if the 79 units version wins the A/B ...
