Re: French tree adjusted

I'm pretty sure your progress on the tree is reflected on the path, with one caveat. Basically it's the same thing as when you were updated to the tree, which didn't always make sense. For example, it put me much closer to the end of the course than was reasonable. Other people got moved very far ba...

Re: French tree adjusted

I have been using an old app, so I have the tree. They got rid of some skills, which surprised me a bit. I had a couple of skills that I hadn't done the final lesson on to earn a crown, and those are gone. Today's quest included getting two crowns, otherwise I might not have noticed. They added a wh...

Re: French tree adjusted

I thought they were done with the old tree. But they still update it? Does that mean that they plan to add a toggle to let the users choose the interface? The path is just a thin veneer of nonsense over the structure they were using before. But I was also surprised that it gave me new skills on the...

Re: Big changes coming to a Duolingo home screen near you!

Now that they reorganized the courses, is like learning a different language to go back and practice? Or can you switch some other way?

Re: Big changes coming to a Duolingo home screen near you!

People on reddit are saying that level 4 and 5 lessons are gone on the path. I feel like simple math shows this isn't true and gives duolingo too much credit: they wouldn't do that much work. But I gave up on the path before I found anything above level 3. Is it true the more difficult levels are go...

Re: Progress lost on new path!

Deleting progress altogether seems like a pretty big bug and they might actually fix it. I'm pretty sure they decided to delete progress if you had done a lesson but not gotten that skill to level 3. If the majority of skills in one of the new units were completed to level 3 or above, they marked th...

Re: Big changes coming to a Duolingo home screen near you!

One thing that really seems to have died because of this update was the windows app. It was still on the pre-2018(?) interface. Doesn't work at all now, can't log in. I'm not sure if they spent resources killing it or if it just broke naturally.

Re: Big changes coming to a Duolingo home screen near you!

I wish there was an obvious app to switch over to. I have tried several and wasn't impressed. It looks to me that my only choices now are to wipe the French tree and start over (testing out as appropriate) or just dumping it altogether. They really messed up my course. From looking at it, if a skill...

Sorry I didn't follow all the links, but is the "hidden stories" post copied?

Re: Bye bye Negativity

I used to go to the "new" tab on the duo forum and upvote threads. I rarely saw any reason why many of those threads were hidden. In most forum software, inactive threads just slide off of the front page, that's more than enough negativity for most people.
