Re: Different quests on desktop and mobile?

You can get different quests using different web browsers on the same device, though you don't seem to get more than three counted towards the monthly total per day. I've never quite worked out how the quests are counted between mobile and desktop but I've certainly managed to to get credited with m...

Usually it's either a temporary network issue in getting the data from the Duolingo servers or a corrupt profile. If I look at that profile now I see that they joined in August 2012 and other data is populated too

Re: Enormous XP

Leagues keep people coming back to Duolingo and I suspect is even a reason for some to buy Super/Plus whatever it's called these days, so I can quite see why Duo created them. And I'm sure they tested it out before rolling it out to everyone Sure there are those who grind away and get tens of thousa...

So I managed to complete 50 quests this month to get the monthly quest badge. Hope they don't increase it again next month... In all the months that I've seen people commenting about this both here and on Reddit, I've never seen anyone say that they have a target of more than 50 so maybe the...

Is each "skill" called "Personalized practice"? The last 20% of the Spanish and Gaelic courses (and probably others too) are basically all reviews of stuff that you've already seen. And boy did the Gaelic one get repetitive, so much so that I'd recognise the question sometimes fr...

Re: They introduced hearts on the web :(

I sort of get the idea behind hearts, in that if you are making lots of mistakes then maybe it's either time to take a break or to practice and work out what you are struggling to understand. I wonder if it also helps slows people down so that they think more about the correct answer rather than rus...

Re: Monthly quests up the ante

So is there some sort of delayed reaction between completing daily quests and their showing up on the tally of quests toward the monthly badge? This is a little weird, no? I've seen it and either it eventually catches up (say after a couple of minutes) or after I refresh the page given that I'm usi...

Mine's gone from 30 to 40 and then had a couple of months at 50 but this month it's only 30 which is a nice surprise since I've been expecting to see it rise to 60 for the last couple of months. But seeing as I generally manage to complete 3 quest a day (even if I do switch web browser to choose the...

Today, I had Oscar, Eddie and Junior racing to 7. Odd since the 'find character X; is usually less frequent than this. Of the nine daily challenges (across the three browsers) I'm more used to only one of them being this type, if I get it at all. Almost wondering if Duolingo are testing out to see h...

To use Ma'am or Sir for that matter brings status into the conversion and therefore politics, whether someone is your superior. In my experience the daily quests change from day to day. Some are quite ridiculous, such as "find Junior x times". I've yet to figure out what that has to do with learning. Incentivising some to do another lesson, or as many as it takes to complete the quest? After all for some if you've...

Different web browser on the same machine offer me mostly different quests for the same language on any given day. So it's possible by being clever in which browser I use for different lessons, I can get more than 3 quests completed on a single day

They did a great job with Duo for schools with leagues. You're now in a noncompetitive league with your classmates with no prizes, buckets, or demotion zones. You have access to the cooperative competition like daily quests, friends quests, and badges. You also have the social features too. It woul...

Are they going to remove the keyboard in both directions? So far, I can still type answers in my target language, but not in English. Without the keyboard, Duolingo is going to be all but useless. I was wondering why the change and at least for me it seems to be that I can't type in English which h...

I did exactly that. For me as someone who uses Duoliongo more or less exclusively in a recap scenario it is now borderline worthless as especially the grammar can't be accessed easily.
