Re: update for duolingo

I had a lot of my Legendary settings reversed with the update.
Those seemed to have become more difficult.
I struggle enough with trying to learn a difficult language like Hungarian.

Re: Practice the same skill for XP

Otherwise, the League is pointless. The leagues are stupid anyway. Repeating a lesson just to farm experience points is an absolute waste of one's lifetime. It is really bad if someone is trying to learn a difficult language. I am trying to learn Hungarian and it is one of toughest languages in the...

Péntek és szombat éjszakánként.

Péntek és szombat éjszakánként. - Friday and Saturday nights.

Why is this not "on Friday and Saturday nights." ???

-ként is also a sore spot :(

how come both tejed and tejedet work here... is the accusative optional when there's a possessive?

I'd like to know this, too.
I would definitely have said: Megissza a tejedet.

Hello, To the people who are learning Hungarian: how many of you have the old layout, and how many of you have the new single Path? Asking especially those who are using the website version. I still use the old layout. Még mindig a régi formátumot használom. Ugh, I still have trouble with word orde...

Technically, we don't know how many factories are being discussed here! Valamelyik is meant to cover that - one of (two), or one of (many)! I looked at this senten...

why not "nekem piros kabátom van és neked fekete"

It's the word "pedig" that is important....it serves as "and" and "whereas".
You can use és, but pedig is more descriptive in this case. At least, that is what I have understood.

Hungarian actually has a similar concept as English in a way.

For instance, pants and shoes can be singular in some cases.

why not "a hülye kutya ugrik oda ahol haladnak autók és villamosok"? TOPIC FOCUS VERB OTHER Topic = a hülye kutya Focus = oda <- location is important in this sentence. Verb = ugrik Other = ahol autók és villamosok haladnak oda and ahol are kinda tied together in this sentence.

how come on this sentence it's allowed to put "oda" in front of "ahonnan" but in general it's forbidden to do that 🤔 Jzsuzsi is right; this is an ugly skill :) But, the thing with this section is - you are right....ODA is tied to AHONNAN. BELÉP becomes LÉP BE due to focus rules....

The pre-verb would just be extra information. Onnan kind of takes care of the origin. It's already implied.

éppen

Mit esznek éppen ? -> What are they eating? vs. Mit esznek? -> What do they eat? / What are they eating? or Éppen esznek. vs. Megeszek. .....is this more of a timeframe/instance issue? :P It's hard to try and go about this without much of an explanation, we don't have Duolingo forums anymore.

Úgy úszik, mint egy hal. [nyelvtán]

(Úgy) (úszik), (mint) (egy) (hal).
(So) (he swims), (like) (a) (fish).
So, he swims like a fish.

Is "úgy" a triggering adverb that indicates a comparison? I have only seen this word in the Hungarian to English.

A fivérednek tekintesz = You consider me your brother.

I read it as "you consider for your brother". I got burned three times. :(

Nope, I am public. The issue started on March 16. According to my Duome profile, I had 55171 XP. We are now in the fourth day after that and I am now at 55815 XP. Hungarian is not an easy language, but I have been at it long enough to get through more lessons than I used to, so I guess that is good!...
