I've seen the words påskekrim and krimserie used for tv shows, but not just krim like that. I don't read murder mysteries, so maybe I'm just not exposed to it. Not a native speaker though.

å miste is as much "to misplace" as "to lose", and you can definitely use it for dropping something. I believe there are also other examples in the duo course such as «Han mistet hamburgeren sin i bakken» or similar.

"Han het Dag" is just as likely to show up in a context where he hasn't died, left, nor changed his name, but the events being described are in the past so the surrounding text is written in that tense. For example, a story could start with "Det var en gang en mann som het Dag."
