蔬菜 vs. 素菜

Hi, I don't know if there are any Chinese native speakers on this board. I would be happy to hear your opinions on the following sentence: Duo wants me to translate 'Children don't like vegetables.' I tried the following answers (both of them were marked as incorrect): '孩子们不喜欢素菜。' '孩子不喜欢素菜。' Is ther...

They have converted my useless lingots into "gems" and now there seem to be hearts in the web version (which I have always been using), although it says they are unlimited. I hope I can finish my Japanese course before they start ruining the whole experience...

Are they going to remove the keyboard in both directions? So far, I can still type answers in my target language, but not in English. Without the keyboard, Duolingo is going to be all but useless.

I wonder who always comes up with these brilliant ideas. Reverse trees are officially dead now.
It took me literally minutes to figure out how to translate an easy Russian sentence with the help of the word bank because the words I was looking for weren't there.

Isn't it a bit premature? The course has a lot of errors. I have reported some, but with no feedback. There were so many errors in there, I don't know how many I have r...

Re: How to progress in leagues

Does it still work to go private on Monday and change to public on Tuesday to place you in a league that's less competitive? Never thought to try that. Yes, as @PtolemysXX noted. The worst leagues are the ones that start right after the leagues close. Even below diamond league, these are the league...

The secrets of lemon juice

Hi all, Duo wants me to translate 'The child likes lemon juice'. My solution was "Dziecko lubi cok z cytryną." assuming that z required the instrumental case. But the correct solution is to use the genitive case, "Dziecko lubi sok z cytryny." Does 'z' mean here 'from' (in the sen...

Re: How to use the new “snake”?

Does the 'snake' mean that the concept of completing several levels successively is gone? Yes. Re: How to use the new “snake”?

Does the 'snake' mean that the concept of completing several levels successively is gone? Now it seems that a lesson appears golden as soon as it has been com...

A question on word order

Hi all,

Duo wants me to translate "Can you repeat this/say this one more time"?
My try was "Daha bir kere söyleyebilir misiniz?", but Duo does not accept this and wants "Bir kere daha söyleyebilir misiniz?".

Is my word order wrong?

Thank you all!

Yes, you are correct - słuchać takes genitive and słyszeć takes accusative. Below is a quick copypasted list of some other verbs which take genitive (or sometimes take genitive). @EranBarLev I don't know, but the owl does.

I had an equally subtle difference between 'big trees' and 'tall trees' in the Turkish course. It probably makes sense if you are green and live in trees. For me not so much.
