Re: How many units for "learn the alphabet'?

I did the Arabic course on the pre-snake tree. When I started, there were 31 Skills, and they were all essentially geared towards introducing the Arabic alphabet. I found that they were very good and enjoyable. Just as I completed that tree (June 2020), the course was expanded to 46 Skills. I was di...

By default, Swedish DL users need to learn from English, which is spoken by most of the population.

Probably not a huge problem, as many Scandinavians I've met speak better English than wot I cud.

My recollection is that the #1's in the leagues that I've been in are rarely below 10,000 and usually around 20,000, and occasionally way higher. This past week it was around 30,000. Many years ago, we had lunch in a cafe in France and I went to the bar to pay. I said "J'aimerais payer". The barman understood me perfectly, as he turned around, picked up a straw and handed it to me.

Gentianopsis It's a sad state of affairs that you describe :-( But sadly, it's only those of us who have been around for a number of years that now remember how good Duolingo used to be. Newcomers, who seem to be Duo's focus, never knew that it was way better in the past, when you could make organi...

@uralicnomad It's definitely not a sync issue, and is solely a Duolingo issue. My Duome XP total is exactly the sum of the XP of my languages in my Duolingo profile, whereas the Duolingo XP total is (currently) 112 XP smaller.

That's weird! It doesn't make sense to stick the old tree at the end of the new snake. Doing Basics 1 & 2 after you've already done 62 skills?! Looks like Duo's AI has screwed up. Maybe this is the first cut at a revised CEFR snake, and the later skills will be merged back into the new snake in ...

@Shypharagy My related beef is that Duo gives us not even the slightest clue as to what the changes are when the snake/tree has been updated. How hard would that be?! The answer is that Duo simply doesn't care. How about adding some Change Management Scientists to their Learning Scientists?
