Re: They introduced hearts on the web :(
I just noticed having hearts on the web too. I think this might finally be where I give up. I preferred web because I didn't have to worry about making mistakes, because I always make those (and often it's not an user-error, but Duolingo simply not accepting some words), and I always hated the stres...

Re: old features i would love back...
Lots of good points mentioned here, and I agree with many of them. I really liked the tree as well, as I could move on to a different skill if the topic of the previous one was hard to focus on, and I could then go back to that one once I felt more motivated. Now there's nothing I can do but force m...

Re: Course Update?
Oxartum have you tried skipping units? There you won't see the words you need, so I often use that as a meter for when my level is above or below the next unit. If I reset my course, that's probably what I'm going to do with the first units as they have seemed to move the greetings and other more-d...

Re: Course Update?
Oh so that's what happened with the course. I never got any notification or anything from Duolingo, I got several for German course without anything actually happening there, but the Hungarian course has been the same for a very long time. Altho, I do not remember if I was always at unit 7 or 8, but...

@EranBarLev Lucky you! A couple of days ago, it did let me use the keyboard, but only for a very short while, and then the keyboard switch disappeared again. I'm a bit late to the party, but just needed to say something to this! I came here again because I remember talking about the word bank issue...

I have noticed this issue on the web too. I don't think it's a bug, but that it's related to the "difficulty" of a lesson/skill. The app on Android has been doing this for a very long time now, where also with the tree it'd give only the word bank for the first level or two before letting ...

Re: Big changes coming to a Duolingo home screen near you!
For incomplete trees, Duo seems to have done a best guess to where you were, setting everything above that point in the path to complete, and everything below to incomplete. I got the path update on web a month or two ago already, and I noticed the same. It has made it really difficult for me to pr...

Re: How reliable are these translations? (OpenAI translation)
Yes, the Finnish one is good. The current one uses the partitive case ("Mitä huoneita teillä on vapaana?"), but it can also be said with the nominative case: "Mitkä huoneet teillä on vapaana?"

Re: Well, it happened. Duolingo changed.
This is one weird change, and I have very mixed feelings about it. First of all, I have now simultaneously the old tree and the new path depending on the platform I use. On my main PC on web I have the new path, on my Android app I still have the old tree, on the Firefox mobile I have the new path, ...

Re: Another course update is underway.
Do not let your desire to master German language be robbed. Please go for a professional course while your motivation is still there. I won't, I'm anyway already around B1 or B2 level with my German, and I have gone through a proper professional course years ago. Which is another problem: I still w...

Re: Another course update is underway.
All these constant, out-of-blue updates on the German tree are rather discouraging. It feels like walking in mud, basically. Not long time ago my tree was updated to one of the previous updates but I got it reversed somehow. I think I mentioned it on the forums and the staff just gave the old tree b...

Re: your languages
Here are mine, in the order of fluency: ( Finnish: native.) English: fluent, I've been learning English since I was 9 years old because it's mandatory in schools here in Finland. German: intermediate or advanced (somewhere around B1-B2), I started learning German on my own a bit over 10 years ago. P...
