Re: Best resources?

Some things I've used are: Speaking focused course - https://www.saysomethingin.com/welsh Pronunciation guide - https://www.youtube.com/c/welshplus TV (technically need a license for BBC iplayer) - https://www.bbc.co.uk/tv/s4c or https://www.s4c.cymru/cy/ (they also have kid/teen games under "c...

Re: What is the story behind your username?

My username is just my name, Rosie, spelt with as many numbers as possible:

r - R - the set of real numbers
o - 0 - zero
s - 5 - five
i - i - the imaginary unit
e - 2.71828... - Euler's number

because I like maths :)

Re: Foreign Language Education In Schools

In the UK the most commonly taught foreign language is French, followed by Spanish and German. The current curriculum requires a foreign language to be taught from ages 7-14, and all schools must offer at least one optional language from 14+. But I think this is quite a recent change, as I don't rem...

Re: Da iawn, - Very Fine?

It just sounds a bit off in English, but it also isn't quite correct as a translation. "Da" means "good" and "iawn" in this context is like "very", it is acting as an adverb rather than an adjective: da iawn - very good oer iawn - very cold dw i'n iawn - I'm O...

English Loan Words for Animals

My dictionary has morhwch as a translation for dolphin , but Duo doesn't accept it. Do people not use the word anymore? It accepts morgi for shark , so is that still in more common use, or what? I find it a bit sad that they only teach the "English" word though, especially because the etym...

Re: Dialects

I don't mind where they're at in the course, but the way they are combined together is a bit odd - I'd prefer seperate lessons for North and South, to make it more clear which was which (or maybe a toggle for you to manually switch between the two for the whole tree, so that you could learn the one ...

Re: Latest Welsh course update

I haven't found the update too bad, but then I'm re-learning Welsh anyway from what I did in school a few years ago, so I am familiar with more of it. It just looks a bit messy right now with half-completed skills here and there. I found the German tree update much worse, in terms of it pushing me t...
