Perhaps we need to start changing our jargon when referring to
a Duolingo course as a tree -
to be

Yeah, um, nope.

I appreciate your optimism. But Owls live in trees, not on paths and this path thing just isn't as charming as Owls and Trees.

heck, with Archive.org some things you can download without an account. Or at least I think you used to. But, yeh, registering is free. And you can check stuff out with the online library loan for an hour at a time.

Feeling like DL is going into chaos right now slowly on a path to self destruction. (This is just my opinion) No, I agree and definitely feel like that's where the site is headed. I'm already starting to scope out alternatives and would recommend others do the same. So...Situation Normal: Class 5 D...

Re: Imagine Duolingo as Open Source

To be fair, someone actually did start such a project. It's called LibreLingo and it currently only offers Spanish (though I have heard that Basque is on the way). It's purely web-based and hasn't really gained a lot of traction as of yet, but it's still worth a mention, as it was nonetheless direc...

Posts in the Irish forum go back to late January. That's just the end of the first page. There are more pages after that that go further, as far as 2014. Just click the little arrow at the end of the page. Or you can type the number of the page at the end of the url. Example page 5: https://duoling...

Oh, and I think I found a quick fix to your image issue. Just edit the URL. Would you demonstrate the code? That was hosted on blogger. It has a handful of default sizes: /s1600/DSC07782.JPG(full size), /s800/DSC07782.JPG, and a smaller one but I can't remember. But /s200/DSC07782.JPG does work: ht...

I didn't say it, but someone else did and now it's archived: https://duolingo.hobune.stream/comment/56978229 But I was thinking it weeks ago. Well, I had intended to. But that was when I thought that the Sentence Discussions would still continue (they lied), so there was a way that I could still make a contribution to others’ learning, by answering grammar questions on the German course. Now that the SDs are locked/frozen/mummified, so t...

Scéalta/ Stories

Stories never got the love at Duo as the big languages did. But People in the sub did share and even write some. I'll try to get as many as I can in the next couple hours. EDIT: Now I can't get anything to load at all. If anyone can retrieve anything, have at it. Try to make it a story per post. GRMA

It is also why I am sad they (whoever they are) have chosen to go to static word press presentation of language learning information to save the learning resources. There is limited interaction possible I understand. It is more like publishing a book, with limited ability for learners to interact. ...
