Re: Tampoco

Sorry for my late reply. What I was referring to with "n-Wort" is that in many languages negation words start with n, e.g. in German: nein, nicht, nichts, niemand, nie, niemals, nirgends.

Tampoco

Same here (Spanish from English, too). None for several months, then quite a few during the last one or two weeks. And those are very old suggestions I can't really remember.

La toalla - the towel

(One of my favourite words because the way I learned it was so funny and cute that I'll always remember it.)

Edit: ups, sorry, please ignore this one. I thought to dry was the last one in the chain.

I'd recommend c/o. This is what I use when I request shipping to an address that I don't have any direct/visible connection to (i.e. there is no bell with my name on it), e.g. for (private) deliveries to my office. Is "z.Hd." really the same? Thinking about it, it might be, I just never un...

A bit of cheating, as I'm not native English, but I instantly fell in love with the Wellerman song as soon as I heard it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qP-7GNoDJ5c A while later, I was curious if there would be Spanish adaptions. There are, and for me the text seems ok to me (I still have trouble ac...

Duolingo may, in its sole discretion and at any time, update, change, suspend, make improvements to or discontinue any aspect of the Service, temporarily or permanently. I've never read it being said that clearly, but since I started Duolingo this was exactly my impression, and the very reason why ...

No fuimos nosotras las que copiamos en el examen

Sometimes I take screenshots of DL sentences that puzzle me, but very often I never remember to post them here to have them discussed. This is one of them, because of 1st person plural in the subordinate clause. In my native language I'd always use 3rd person in this kind of statement, otherwise it ...

I would have chosen "iba a empezar", too, it doesn't seem all wrong to me. Perhaps it actually was the last part, fue retrasada , that Duo rejected? Using retrasado with ser would be describing people as mentally retarded, and I'm not sure if this works well with events, so I'd guess it sh...

As far as I know, it is not strictly mandatory to use a redundant indirect object pronoun along with indirect objects, but it seems so perfectly common to do it that it may sound unusual or unnatural if you drop it.

Yes, I think you're right about this automatic part, at least for me it's like that. Re: How are non ASCII characters transcribed in different languages?

In Polish (a slavic language written in Latin script) there are no "workarounds" like in German to replace diacritics with combinations of plain letters. So if we have no choice and have to use a bare Latin keyboard we type the base characters without diacritics as if the diacritics were ...

Maybe I wasn't clear enough about this, but I wasn't focused on how to change my keyboard, but rather on what people typically would do if they can't or don't know how.
