Re: Who learns Hebrew from Welsh?

Re: Use duome to see more from duolingo.com

I assumed from Duolingo and thought I understood here that the W is for words, but some of mine are coloured red and some dark grey, even in languages where I've finished the tree. I am confused! Am I looking at the wrong thing? I don't think they're based on the strength because they're red in some...

Re: Seo Mòrag agus Anna - in English?

This is Morag and Anna works fine. "These are Morag and Anna" sounds very awkward to me, it doesn't sound like you're talking about actual humans.

Re: Swahili dictionary banned?!!

I think even calling Swahili a "very obscure" language is pushing it, given it's a lingua franca throughout a good number of African countries, but calling Spanish obscure is wild 😜

Re: Cheating on Duolingo stories

Yeah, what HeavenBender said. The only person you're actually cheating is yourself. You could sit with Google translate and probably get a course finished & to level 25, but what would be the point if you didn't learn anything 🤷🏻

Re: Is anyone else studying Hebrew?

Listening from day one. My first goal is to understand the spoken language. Of course, reading is easier, but I read and listen to simple stories at the same time. I use Lingq and I use a slow speed. Once I got going I actually found speaking and understanding easier in Hebrew than reading, which i...

Re: Native English proofreader needed.

I've read that the courses from now on will follow more set templates. That could be nice, because I feel there is a need for improvement of the pedagogical structure as well. I have mixed feelings about this; it depends how it's implemented. Some languages have such different structures and areas ...

Re: Native English proofreader needed.

@flootzavut, as you know, Duome is an independent entity from Duolingo. I would recommend reporting the error the next time you get these sentences, and hope that a human will eventually review your report. That's what I have been doing, I just posted here in the hopes someone from the team might b...

Native English proofreader needed.

I have no idea if the Romanian team still has access to the course, and don't know where else to mention this, but some of the English sentences in the course are very unnatural and/or wrong. There are numerous times when I've struggled to make an English sentence that makes sense out of the words g...
