Re: New path impact on Duome

I don't believe it has with the new path, which I don't yet have - but for me crowns also fluctuate up and down for no obvious reason. I too learn several languages, but I don't see how that impact the crown count. For example my course English from Russian, which I haven't have worked with for over...

Re: Welsh listening exercise

In the app I can start picking words while listening, but never on the web version. I prefer to be able to pick words while listening. Especially in Welsh where there often are long sentences with a lot of small words. I can see the point of view that you should be able to listen, comprend and then ...

Re: Big changes coming to a Duolingo home screen near you!

I haven't updated my app since June (android version 5.63.3) and it still running smoothly with the tree layout. (Well, not updating the app didn't protect me from a VERY updated Welsh course :( ) I was, however, almost hoping to try the new layout on the web version - but I still have the tree. Not...

Re: Big changes coming to a Duolingo home screen near you!

You are right g-heike. We are getting used to what we have, however if a "a-one-path" structure was my first encounter with Duolingo - I wouldn't have choose this application. I know that this system will be beneficial for some people - but I doubt I will be included. I have until Septembe...

Re: Big changes coming to a Duolingo home screen near you!

I am still upset with this change but I have been recently choosing what to touch up on and all that stuff. Oh well like you said the owl does what the owl wants. 🤷🏻 Looks like he fell off of a tree and hit his head too hard. Well, I believe he fell off a tree long time ago- and never fully recover...

Re: Big changes coming to a Duolingo home screen near you!

I know that the owl is doing what he likes, but some of this seems a bit odd. Yes, it might be a useful tool in a class room. However I believe that most students prefer to have a choice how to study if they have chosen to study on their own - and I doubt that it's the younger students who choose to...

Re: Here are some facts about DL PLUS

I do have a Plus subscription - but I would never buy it for the few extra features. I like the service (the way they teach the basics suits me), and I have the means to pay for it. In some sense even if Duolingo is no longer what it was, I still like the original thought about support free language...

Re: A random idea about the DL forums closing

I wonder if when the forums froze before due to being hacked, statistics showed that users learnt more and did better on lessons during that time? It's an interesting thought, but I can't wonder about the source of the statistics. I wonder, If the daily amount of users went down because of the foru...

Re: What's the point of lingots now?

Have you gotten any lingots lately? I don't think I got any today. Usually they give random lingots each day. I usually don't get any lingots, except for the two rewarded if I earn a crown (not legendary though) I it seems to work as usual both yesterday and today, but I am not certain about anythi...

No forum at all since yesterday morning, March 21, just greyish lines instead of text, and several "new" tab disappeared on March 20.

Now, afternoon March 22 - the SD is all gone, only an error messages.
I hope it's just temporary, but the little green owl seems to do as it pleases him...

Discrepancy between Duolingo and DuoMe

I have during the last year or so experienced an increasing issue between my Duolingo stats and the one displayed on DuoMe. Well I have starting to get used to a day or so with cached data here on DuoMe, but recently it has turned to days in between updates. The raw data seems fine, but the the acti...

Re: Are you keeping your streak after the forums close?

Well, I hesitated between first and last option. I do like my streak, but it's not that important. Yes, I will continue with Duolingo, I still have a lot to learn in my chosen languages. I have no plans to cancel my subscription either - I have chosen to pay not because of the forum, nor the few ext...
