Re: Are French People Rude Myth | Is It true?

Too much so really, as soon as I got the B of bon jour out they would speak english. I did manage a few encounters totally in French such as buying stamps or ordering meals etc whi...

Ce qui and ce que

Can anyone explain the differences in usage of these two terms? I can't figure it out as they seem to mean the same thing and I am guessing. Please help.

Re: Are French People Rude Myth | Is It true?

I am off to the south of France (Peyriac de mer, near Narbonne) for a month in a few days. My french should be better so hopefully I will be speaking to more locals, more generally. So I should get an idea of general rudeness. In the past I have found the French to be more direct rather than rude. T...

Jump Here

Do you know what happens if you press the jump here buttons on Duolingo? Can you jump close to the end of the course, to see how difficult it is, and then jump back? I don't like pressing buttons unless I know what is going to happen!

In France

Just back from the south of France. It was fun but outside of formal interactions I hardly understood a word. I am from the north east of England and have an accent in English so I was wondering if the French of duo lingo is Parisian and the French of the south of France is very different. Anyway I ...

Re: Streak Freeze

Paul: If you have someone you really trust you could have them sign in for you daily and do one lesson, so they can be helping you keep your streak, and helping themself learn a language. I think it's a win-win but you really need to trust them and know they won't slack. Just my thoughts. BTW it wo...

Ok, I saw that comment earlier, I had no idea! I'm sorry-

Don’t be sorry. It was a nice and caring comment.

Yes it was and it is nice to be considerate. Thank you, Paul. Sorry this took so long to respond but nothing to worry about!

Hitting a wall

A few days ago I wrote a short note to someone in France confirming a holiday booking we had made and when we will be arriving etc. Man it was hard work. The various way of saying the same thing. Even simple things took forever. By the end I wasn't sure how to say "goodbye". I really feel ...
